I also tend to be the "Guru" who doles out advice on programming, Linux, and many other topics. I pride myself on my broad range of knowledge (Sometimes known as reading the manual) and ability to read around issues and find the root cause.
Outside of ClosedLess, I have time enough to relax, following my body to know when I need to eat, sleep, and do other things. I use that time to my advantage building my skills in my hobbies and volunteering with my church (to the best of my ability). While I am currently not undertaking any formal study, rest assured I am still learning new things, and re-learning many things that I have forgotten.
My biggest hobby is music, being a mostly self-taught piano player and singer. I currently play keyboard for the Canterbury Christ Church University Gospel Choir and I'm still learning new techniques and songs. I play passable guitar (in the right keys), and I can fumble out a somewhat coherent bassline, but I would say I am far from competent at either instrument. I also have dabbled with recorder, ocarina, tongue drum, kazoo, tambourine, and many other instruments with most achieving a tuneful result with practice. I own and occasionally play a pre-war piano accordion, and the moment I can find a good deal on a newer one I will start practising in earnest (while I could use my functional antique, there are few places that repair them if they break, so I need to take as best care of it as I can). I also own a violin, however until I have it looked at to find out what it needs to be playable (It was a good price) It sits in a case unused.
I also 'lead' the small worship band as part of my church, usually this leads to me playing keys and leading the singing, but sometimes I also run the slide-show and the multi-tracks. I may, providing we start making them, link to some videos of our worship.
I am also an amateur photographer mainly taking photos for my own enjoyment rather than publishing. With time I picked up enough skill to manage shooting manual and now even colour grade my own images (A process I shall go into on my blog in the future). My favourite subjects are nature and architecture, with family and friends trailing close behind for sentimental reasons alone. I'm looking to improve my skill-set by learning more about shot composition, lighting, and generally practising more. In future there will be a gallery of the images I think turned out the best, so keep a lookout for that.
You may notice there is a distinct stylistic difference between my sections of this site and sections that are shared. This is highly intentional. The design differences are simply a merge between the ClosedLess theme and my blog theme. Feel free to have a dig around and hopefully you'll find something I put here useful.
I'm the type of person to have many pots on the boil at once. As such there is a strong possibility that there will parts of this that are... under construction
