Privacy Policy

Where does your data go?

This policy is designed to be simple and readable, while still covering everything we need to cover.

Note: This policy is not specific to any particular service and some things we run may need their own policies. Any extra policies needed will be listed below after they have been created.

IP Address

Currently we have our nginx server set to log using its default settings. This means that your public IP address will appear in that log. The time which the page was visited is also linked to your public IP address.

Currently this data is kept indefinitely; however, we will be looking into log purging in the future and possibly disabling the logs completely.

Email Address

If you choose, and are allowed to register for one of our services it may ask for an email address. It's up to you if that is your primary email address or not. We can see the email addresses for some services (e.g., Gitea), however we do not care to use this information.

Browser Fingerprint

Every browser will in some way communicate information about itself to every website you visit. This can include your operating system, browser name and version, plugins installed, fonts installed, screen resolution, etc. As far as we are aware, nothing we run makes use of that information.

Usage and Storage of Collected Information

All data that we collect through any service is currently stored on our own server. We have full control over this server. We will never sell your information nor make it available to third parties. We also will not buy or recieve information from third parties.

Exceptions

We are based in the United Kingdom (UK), and the server is located in the UK. If we are required by presentation of the appropriate documentation to give up information, we legally will have to comply with that request regardless of if we are content or not about it.
We will endeavour to inform you of actions like this unless we are subject to some form of gag order.

We may also require giving out your information to relevant authorities if we believe you are using our systems in an illegal manner. This is not a decision that we will take lightly.

The simplest way for us to avoid this happening is for us to simply not collect any information. However, as of the moment, our systems are in an early state of development and we keep more detailed logs so we can solve issues faster.

"What about My Privacy?"

To avoid any legally sanctioned requests for information about yourself, you can take some steps towards increasing your internet privacy such as:

  1. Using burner emails to set up services
  2. Giving a fake name (like we would know)
  3. Using Tor or a VPN (Tor is the more secure option)
  4. Not using our services at all (we can't give out what you don't give us)
