Welcome to My Blog Space.

[Blog #0]

Hi, I’m Ethan and welcome to my blog space.

Let’s get one thing straight, I have no idea how to create blogs nor what to talk about specifically in them. Throughout the course of my blogging adventure, released whenever I remember I have a blog and want to discuss something, expect a lot of chaos, informality, and whatever my style of writing is. At times I’ll most likely want to discuss cool topics and subjects of interest. Providing formality will better help emphasise what I’m discussing and hopefully give you an understanding into something new or just my opinion on the subject…that being said, balancing casualness with formality might be tricky and I don’t want to ruin the serious tone that can be easily lost with informal discussion.

Oh right, I’m yet to introduce myself fully. As previously stated, my name is Ethan and I’m currently (as of writing – May 2021) a university student undertaking a Bachelor of Science (BSci) in Computer Science. Web development isn’t my field of specialty, nor do I enjoy it enough to take a career into web development at this time of my life; however, I get a sense of creative joy from designing websites. I’ve tried many times to make websites from scratch, and never taken an in-depth course in web dev/UI design nor used a website to make a website (kind of chicken and egg to a degree). Every website I’ve designed and made has always differed in some way from the previous. Currently, I’ve never made two websites the exact same, and this is the creative joy I spoke of, the joy of developing your skillset and knowledge to try something new. However, I did say I wouldn’t pursue this as a career and that’s because I get burnt out after a while once the creative joy has been lost – I don’t consider myself an artist but I understand the phrase “artist’s burnout”.

For an introduction to my blog page…yeah, that was kind of a lengthy introduction. Where I go from here isn’t clear; however, in my mind for the layout of the blog space, I was considering loading blog pages off the bottom of the screen and have them scroll in to replace the previous (like a PowerPoint transition effect). I’ve not made up my mind, nor worked out how that’ll be done, and I already have the nice splash screen which hides the page until all the content has been loaded for the view to consume all at once. The splash screen is also designed to allow for an easier transition between pages with different colour themes, you most likely experience that coming from the landing page of the website into my home page.

Maybe I’ll explain this effect in a separate blog, and more about my plans in the future for the website. This welcome blog will most likely be changed in the future to be shorter, snappier and allow for you to easily navigate my blogs by release or category.

For now, I thank you for reading and hope to see you in the future. Ta ta for now.
